“IF YOU THOUGHT ONE DAY WAS LONG ENOUGH FOR A FESTIVAL COMMITTED TO JUST ONE SPECIFIC COMFORT FOOD, YOU’VE UNDERESTIMATED THE POWER OF MAC ‘N CHEESE.” – NOTABLE.CA

This year we’re doin’ it BIGGER and BETTER! June 3-5th, we will be teaming up with 45 of the best chefs in the 6ix to re-open Ontario Place and serve up Canada’s favourite comfort food: mac and cheese!!!

What does this mean? With access to over 600,000 square feet of event space (that’s the size of almost 12 football fields) we have rounded up Toronto’s hottest chefs, savvy cooks and food entrepreneurs, competing to win your heart with the city’s best mac and cheese. Prizes for the best mac and cheese dish include “Best of Fest”, “Judge’s Choice” and “People’s Choice”.

We’ve got Craft Beer and Cider Bay, Carnival Corner, Food Truck Island, an Artisanal Market, Dairy Farmers of Canada and Metro Cooking Stage, plus more live entertainment. Bring your whole squad out to witness Canada’s first ever Guinness World Record attempt at the biggest bowl of Mac this world has ever seen.

This year we are excited to partner with the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation. A Canadian organization created solely to fund wildlife rescue organizations in the care, raising and release of orphaned and injured wildlife.

BIGGER AND BETTER MAC AND CHEESE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO TORONTO THIS JUNE

TORONTO, April 19, 2016 – The second annual Mac and Cheese Festival is returning to Toronto June 3, 4 and 5 2016, taking over Ontario Place West Island, after a five year closure. This year, the festival will feature over 75 food, drink and artisanal vendors; 40 of which include Toronto’s top chefs, savvy cooks and food entrepreneurs, competing to make the city’s best mac and cheese. Free to the public, the Mac and Cheese Festival is offering attendees a bigger and better event.

“It is all about top quality food and beverage supporting local businesses, ensuring Torontonians and visitors are given an amazing event experience and taste some of the best mac and cheese the city has ever tasted,” said Daniel Janetos, Director, Strategic Partnerships, Mac and Cheese Festival.

“Last years festival set out to attract 20,000 foodies but we ended up attracting over 52,000. We’re returning bigger and better, taking over 600,000 square feet of event space, expecting over 65,000 attendees from across the Greater Toronto Area.

We will see exciting independent food and beverage collaborations from top purveyors in the city. In addition, we’re excited to offer a VIP package, which will also allow ticket holders an exclusive experience,” Janetos added.

New to 2016, the Mac and Cheese Festival has added a Craft Beer and Cider Bay, Carnival Corner with games, rides and eats, Food Truck Island, Artisanal Market, Dairy Farmers of Canada and Metro Cooking Stage, more live entertainment and free shuttle bus pickups to and from Ontario Place. Prizes for the top tier mac and cheese dish include “Best of Fest” who will be awarded with a $5,000 cash prize, in addition to “Judge’s Choice” and the “People’s Choice” award, who will be awarded a free booth for 2017.

Event organizers have chosen to donate a percentage of profits raised to the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation; the first organization in Canada created solely to fund wildlife rescue organizations in the care, raising and release of orphaned and injured wildlife.

“We are very honoured and thankful that the Mac and Cheese Festival will be donating crucial funds to the National Wildlife

Rehabilitation Foundation, to help save our Canadian wildlife,” said Vickie Janetos, Founder of National Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation.

“It is our goal to continue to support our incredible partners and expand the capacity of Canadian rehabilitation centers. The Foundation provides food, equipment and supplies for saving wild animals. Without funding these groups are forced to euthanize thousands of baby animals each year. We are extremely grateful for the support to help rescue each and every wild baby found by members of the public. For every dollar spent on delicious food and beverage offered at the festival, you are contributing towards the successful saving and feeding of thousands of animals,” added Vickie Janetos.

Major sponsors of the 2016 event include Dairy Farmers of Canada and Metro. Supporting sponsors include Foodora, Vita Coco, Social Lite, Vaulted Inc., three Events Agency and official radio sponsor 99.9 Virgin Radio.

Organizers released the dates of June 3, 4 and 5, 2016 for the second annual Mac and Cheese Festival. The event is free upon admission.
